The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate have been organising
Pilgrimages to Lourdes since 1883.
Every year pilgrims join us from Ireland, Britain and the Channel Islands. Some 100 Assisted
Pilgrims, who require a special level of care and comfort, accompany
the other pilgrims and stay in the Accueil Notre Dame.
Designed in the form of open arms like the Rosary Basilica the
Accueil Notre-Dame reminds us that, in Lourdes, everyone is
made welcome and cared for. The Accueil Notre-Dame is neither
a hotel nor a hospital. It is exclusively reserved for the sick and
disabled pilgrims as well as those who accompany them.
Situated on the banks of the River Gave and within the Sanctuary,
the Accueil Notre-Dame has an atmosphere of peace and calm
surrounded by gardens, fountains and flowerbeds.
Rooms are shared, spacious and furnished hospital style with
specially adapted toilets and showers, offering every possible
comfort for all pilgrims especially those who are sick or have a
disability. Each room has an oxygen supply and each bed is fitted
with an alarm bell. Meals are varied and can be adapted to
special diets. They are served in the dining rooms of the Accueil
or in the bedrooms for those who are unable to move.
